How can you incorporate a child’s intertest into cognitive development activities?
Heres one idea.
Mrs B’s Matching Game
A child has an interest in animals, take a photo of each animal on a piece of black card – print and laminate
Viola you have created a matching game that acknowledges the child’s interest. You could adapt this with many interests, or take it further….
Ask the family to take pictures of items in their home that is important to them, have the parent email the pictures or give them a USB stick to save it onto. Discuss these pictures with the children and see if you have something that is similar or matches the picture in your centre, home or school.
If you do not could you look at adding that item to your centre? Document this experience in the program as it is evidence that you are acknowledging all families and engaging in their lives.
